Hydrodistention
If lifestyle changes and medications have not been effective at controlling interstitial cystitis symptoms, Dr. Hardy may offer hydrodistention of the bladder. This is a procedure where the bladder is filled with sterile water at a low pressure in order to stretch the bladder. While the bladder is stretched, it is examined with a narrow scope that goes into the bladder through the urethra. Dr. Hardy will make note of any ulcers, lesions, or abnormal tissue. Then the bladder is drained.
